06 Feb '13: Anne Wafula Strike, Kenya's first female Paralympian
Ann Wafula Strike was the first woman to represent Kenya at the Paralympic Games when she reached the final of the women's T53 event at the 2004 Paralympics in Athens. It had been a long, tough journey to the Paralympics. Struck down with polio at the age of two, her village community in Kenya thought she had been cursed and at one point wanted to burn her house down. After moving to England she was inspired by wheelchair racers at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester and took up the sport. In Stuart Weir's interview Ann talks about her battles to become an elite athlete, her joy at representing her country and her faith which has been her strength and motivation. The show is hosted by Adrian Barnard.
